AndroDerm Side Effects

AndroDerm is a drug that has both unpleasant and harmful side effects. Some side effects of AndroDerm may include:

• Worsening benign prostatic hyperplasia in patients who already have the condition;
• Low sperm count;
• Swelling with or without congestive heart failure;
• Sleep apnea;
• Skin burns at the application site; and
• Back pain.

The Dangers of AndroDerm

In a 2013 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, researchers found testosterone therapy may be associated with an increased risk of myocardial infection, stroke, and all-cause mortality. In fact, the article found that among men with low testosterone and who underwent coronary angiography, those who underwent testosterone therapy had a 29 percent higher rate of death, stroke, and heart attack.

In a different study published in PLOS One in 2014, researchers found a greater risk of a heart attack after young men with heart disease and older men began testosterone therapy.
