The Education Trust released a report, entitled “Subprime Opportunity: The Unfulfilled Promise of For-Profit Colleges and Universities.” The Trust promotes high academic achievement for students and is working to close the gap between opportunity and achievement.

The report found that for-profit colleges are creating a subbasement of the American economy for the middle class. The Education Trust reports that students are saddled with heavy debt and no opportunity for meaningful employment. The high-cost programs are doing little more than putting lots of money into the corporations that run them.
