Starting January 1, 2011, the lowest amount of insurance coverage you can have in Texas is going up. Right now, a driver in Texas is required to be insured as follows:

$25,000 for each injured person in an accident

$50,000 total for each accident

$25,000 for property damage per accident

As of January 1, 2011, the minimum coverage will be as follows:

$30,000 for each injured person in an accident

$60,000 total for each accident

$25,000 for property damage per accident (same)

What does this mean for you? This means that if you are in a car accident in Texas, you may be able to recover more money for your injuries and vehicle damage. But be careful! The Department of Insurance indicates that 50% of vehicles in Texas are only minimally insured and 1 in 5 vehicles are uninsured! For a full article.
